CNOOC's Mizan oilfield complex exceeds 300,000 barrels per day of crude oil production

2022-11-19

On November 16, the daily crude oil production of the Misan oilfield complex in Iraq, operated and served by CNOOC Iraq, exceeded 300,000 barrels (about 45,000 tonnes) for the first time, reaching the peak production of the oilfield, which is important for promoting the "Belt and Road" energy cooperation between China and Iraq and helping the development of the Iraqi oil industry. This is of great significance to the promotion of energy cooperation between China and Iraq and the development of the Iraqi oil industry. In 2010, CNOOC and the Turkish State Oil Company signed a 20-year technical service contract with Iraq for the Missan oilfield complex. The Maysan oilfield has become a new highlight of practical cooperation between China and Iraq.

Xie Wensheng, General Manager of CNOOC Iraq, said that the successful achievement of 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the Misan Oilfield in Iraq is an important milestone in CNOOC's fulfillment of the Misan Oilfield Cluster Technical Services Contract, and an important achievement in deepening energy cooperation between China and Iraq. According to him, in recent years, faced with many challenges such as the continued ravages of the New Crown Pneumonia epidemic, CNOOC has concentrated its efforts and overcome difficulties, overcoming adverse factors such as the natural decline of the field, limited operational equipment and support resources, and adopted a series of management innovations and technical measures to effectively crack the bottlenecks that restricted production, achieving the target of 300,000 barrels per day ahead of the original plan and making every effort to ensure peak The production rate has been stable for seven years. Since its roots in Iraq in 2010, CNOOC has driven its Iraqi partners to build oilfields with advanced technology and management experience, and has successively built and put into operation the largest integrated oil, gas, water and electricity processing terminal in Iraq; commissioned a standardised demonstration degasification station; and built over 1,500 kilometres of oilfield gathering and transmission pipeline network, steadily increasing daily oilfield production from 88,000 barrels before CNOOC entered the country to 300,000 barrels. By the end of October 2022, the cumulative oil production of the Misang oilfield complex had exceeded 1 billion barrels.

"The construction of the Missan oilfield has added more than 30,000 local jobs, further strengthened the training of local oil and gas talents and vocational skills upgrading, and increased residents' economic income." Xie Wensheng said that the 8,000 cubic metres per day water intake pumping station built by CNOOC in Iraq has become a "lifeline" for water for work and life in the oilfield and for residents along the road; new and renovated roads, water treatment facilities, sewage networks, power grids and schools in Mushara have greatly improved the infrastructure of the local community. At the same time, the company actively assisted in the prevention and control of local epidemics by building a 40-bed infectious disease hospital in Amara. Wang Dongjin, Chairman of CNOOC, said that the Misang Oilfield Complex project in Iraq is one of the important achievements in promoting the construction of "One Belt, One Road" and international energy cooperation, and CNOOC will adhere to the principle of co-business, co-build and co-share, and collaborate with the governments and partners of the resource countries to continuously promote the high-quality development of the Misang Oilfield Complex and build a new pattern of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation with the resource countries. It will continue to promote the high-quality development of the Mizan oil field complex and build a new pattern of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation with the resource countries. It is reported that CNOOC Group has carried out energy cooperation in more than 40 countries and regions on six continents, established a number of overseas oil and gas production bases, and entered oil and gas-rich areas such as deepwater Brazil, western Canada and the UK North Sea. The company's net proven overseas oil and gas reserves exceed 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent, and it is involved in billions of tonnes of "world class" oil fields and oil and gas formations on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
